Club President – Paul Kilvington

We want to introduce some variety into the club programme.Over the past year we have run a “sporting time trial series” which proved very popular. Run on quiet safer countryside roads, the various courses provided a chance to use a number of bike handling skill like cornering, fast decents, constant gear changes and some challenging hill climbs, all add to gaining more experience for road racing. We hope by promoting these events that this will provide a basis to encourage younger or new members to give racing a go.

Club Secretary – Neil Dean

Neil first started riding with the CTC in 2003, then joined Hull Thursday in 2009 to take part in the Time Trial series and became hooked on going faster.

He now also enjoys racing in the local road race league and LVRC events. Has also ridden (suffered) in BC events, and keeps coming back for more.

Assistant Secretary – Barry Trotter

‘Barry has been a member of Thursday for more than 50 years. Throughout the 1950′s and 60′s he enjoyed a fairly successful racing career gaining places in National Championships, National team records and International selection. Still a keen and active rider he enjoys both road riding and mountain-biking, but prefers his rides to be more sociable now adays. After a long career in promoting road races he now restricts his involvement to being an enthusiastic helper at all Club promoted races.’

Club Coach – Richard Guymer

Richard started cycling in 1972 with the City Road Club (Hull) later becoming a life member.

He has competed in time trials, road races, mountain bike, cyclo x and track. He has also organised events in most of these disiplines.

One claim to fame is beating a young Malcolm Elliot in a sprint for second place in the Hull Thursday Road Club road race many years ago!

Latterly his racing took second place to transporting son Steve around the country and abroad to race first in British Schools events and then BC and CTT events. Recently he has taken to riding in the French Alpes and for the last two years has ridden the Alpes Open Tour.

Several years ago Jim Sampson threatened to retire and persuaded Richard to qualify as an ABCC Coach which he did in January 2010. He is now on the national committee.

Despite their name ‘Cycopaths’, this bunch of off road nuts are a friendly bunch who enjoy riding on bridle ways and quiet country lanes. They cater for all ages and fitness levels, so you should find the rides to your liking. During the Winter months, they ride every sunday morning staring at 9am and rides last for approx 2 hours.

Over the years, we have had more that 250 riders join us at various times and our record attendance was 38 one fine summer evening a few years ago at Skidby. If you need any further info, please contact John.
