Wainman’s 15 mile open time trial record broken after 19 years

The ‘Caledonian Concorde’, Jim Trevor returned home from his current base in Fife, Scotland to smash the veterans’ 15 mile TT by over a minute

and secure the senior record by a narrow 3 seconds as a bonus.
The veteran time trial specialist returned to the roads of East Yorkshire recording 32:22 in the open event promoted by the Yorkshire Cycling Federation.

An average speed of just under 28 mph was necessary to achieve the new record time and take both records which had survived since the 1990s.

Although warm and dry there was a stiff westerly breeze during the race and Jim was surprised to have achieved the speed necessary to break local TT legend Joel Wainman’s 19-year-old record.

The previous senior record was set by Joel Wainman at 32:25 in 1994, and the veterans record by Derek Roe at 33:26 in 1997.

Congratulations, Jim, from all HTRC members.
