An average speed of just under 28 mph was necessary to achieve the new record time and take both records which had survived since the 1990s.

Although warm and dry there was a stiff westerly breeze during the race and Jim was surprised to have achieved the speed necessary to break local TT legend Joel Wainman’s 19-year-old record.

The previous senior record was set by Joel Wainman at 32:25 in 1994, and the veterans record by Derek Roe at 33:26 in 1997.

Congratulations, Jim, from all HTRC members.
