Neil Cleminshaw smashes Vets’ 25 record

Neil Cleminshaw has set a new veterans’ 25 mile time trial record in the Belper BC Open 25 with a very respectable time of 51:11 (that’s 29.3 mph average speed), placing 20th in a great field.

Neil knocked a whopping 2 minutes 15 seconds off his lifetime PB from 2007, and made a 1:58 improvement on the club Vets’ 25 record set last season by Jymmy Trevor.

He was only 18 seconds outside the outright Hull Thursday RC 25 record set by Joel Wainman back in 1996.

This target was on the cards but the wind got blowing up in the last 5 miles, sucking Neil back on the final drags on the A50, preventing the record on this occasion, but he reckons it would be possible if everything clicked into place, and the weather remained calm.

Neil said that, “Obviously I’m really chuffed with jumping from a 53:26 PB to a short 51, which is a remarkable improvement for me. Also we were only 1 minute 10 seconds outside the HTRC team 25 record.”

Neil Cleminshaw  51:11

JP Pretorius  55:36

Rich Walker  59:08

2:45:55 HTRC Team (2:44:45 existing record)

“With club time trialling on the up and performances improving, this record is within our grasp, so well done JP and Rich for their great rides too.”
