2018 TT Series – #1 Bubwith result

After 3 false starts the local time trial season finally got underway on Saturday afternoon at Bubwith.

After 3 consecutive cancelled events I’m sure this was a relief to local riders who have undoubtedly been training hard all winter.

Conditions were good, although not quite the balmy conditions we got for this event last year. Temperatures were reasonable and there was very little wind with the steam form the nearby cooling stations rising almost vertrically. Out on the course there was a slight NE breeze resulting in the last leg to the finish being slightly wind-assisted, but it was very marginal.

John Brearley started this season in the same style he finished last season (also on this course) and won the event with a very quick 21.08. This is the second quickest time recorded on this course and only World Champion Adam Duggleby has gone quicker with a 20:18.

In second place was Neil Cleminshaw with 21:34 and in 3rd place Finlay Pickering in 21:46.

Mark Walker has entered the series again after a year’s break and was best of the rest in 22:29 beating JP by just over a minute with Ben Williams taking 6th spot.

First lady was Pauline Mitchell in an excellent 26:28.

A total of 19 riders started and all finished the result sheet is available below:

The first event event is in just over 3 weeks time and is on Wednesday 11 April on the Weedley prologue course.

Hopefully the roadworks will be finished by then and the road re-opened.
