Team www.sports-lab.co.uk 10 m SPOCO TT 14th March 2020 result

Another blustery day greeted the riders lining up for the start of the team sportslab.co.uk early spring season 10 m TT, the first of the Yorkshire Cycling Federation’s 2020 SPOCO series.

Five Hull Thursday riders were in attendance alongside the Yorkshire 10 mile TT champion Philip Graves (VC York) and other notable competitors, primarily from the north of England. Thursday’s showing were Simon Posnett, Alan Thompson, Jymmy Trevor, Mark Mckeown, and down as a VC Beverley rider due to a clerical error but actually first claim Thursday for 2020, Andrew Millar.

There was a stiff south westerly aiding riders on the first and longest stretch of road heading northbound to Market Weighton and riders leaving behind the small picturesque East Yorkshire village of Hotham along the foothills of the Yorkshire Wolds, had the benefit of dry roads thanks to the bright windy morning.

Sixty four riders completed this early season test on the quiet flat mostly country roads, all enjoying the fast outward leg before gradually turning towards the brunt of the wind as the course made it’s way on an anti-clockwise direction back on itself.

Philip Graves didn’t prove to be playing his A game with Thomas Hutchinson from Team Kirkley Cycles taking the win and Phil taking second.  Simon Beldon from Team Bottrill made up the podium with his team mate George Evans taking forth,  posting the forth sub 20 minute time on the day!
