A long-time, on/off member of HTRC, having ridden road bikes as a junior before getting into mountain biking and then back into road riding. I have just returned from 3 years living, working, riding and road racing in Florida.

Favourite thing about cycling:

The freedom and the relaxation of riding as well as the rivalry of racing and training.

Most embarrassing moment on a bike:

Only the ‘falling over sideways at traffic lights on my first outing with clipless pedals’ that most of us have experienced.

Memorable achievements:

Only small achievements, but happy memories:

  • Bronze medal at the National Student Mountain Bike championships (and a gold medal for the University team) back in the ‘90s.
  • Representing Great Britain (or at least that’s what the locals thought!) at a 4 day mountain bike race ‘Rallye Des Alpes’ in the French Alps – again back in the ‘90s.
  • BC 3rd cat licence.
  • USA Cycling 3rd cat licence.
