I’m Will Thomas, committee member for Hull Thursday RC. I’m now in my third full season of racing. I’ve been riding a bike from a young age although it was mountain biking, I made the switch to road cycling in 2013 starting out doing sportive rides before starting to race towards the end of the season.

Average miles covered in a week:

  • 100-120

Goals for this season:

  • Move up to 2nd Cat licence
  • Get some good results in Regional A races

Favourite Rider:

  • Mark Cavendish

Best place you’ve ever ridden:

  • Mallorca

Favourite thing about cycling:

  • The freedom you get, the social aspect, the team mentality and most of all the adrenaline rush from sprinting.

Most embarrassing moment on a bike:

  • Taking the wrong turn on a time trial (never to be done again!)

Memorable achievements:

  • 1st place at York closed circuit race
  • 2nd place in Deepdale TLI Road Race
  • 3rd place in North Yorks Road Race (gained 3rd cat licence in the same race)
  • Podium places 2 years running in club Time Trial series
  • Club points leader in British Cycling leader board in 2014
  • 1st HTRC team in both open Team Time Trials run by the club in 2014 (with Mark walker)
  • 3 wins in club Time Trial Series 2014/2015
  • 2nd place in North Yorkshire RRL event
