The second event in the series brought us better weather – but that wasn’t difficult; much calmer and brighter but still cold.

A few more riders added to group, perhaps shepherded by Rob Stones and setting off at seven o’clock were Stuart Carmichael, Nick Irwin, Glen Harrison, Rob Stones, Simon Pickering, Jodie Brumhead, Nicky Moore and Paul Campbell.

Three minutes later in group two were Scott Hamilton, Tony Goundry, Derek Palmer, David Atkin, Adam Yates, Martin Oliver, Graham Lonsdale, Steven Waterall, Benjamin Bell, Gary Trees, Chris Holland, Phil Bixby, Craig Medcalf, Neil Dean, Steve Cooper, Nathan Chester, Andy Faichney, Geoff Bryan, Mark Love, Steve Roebuck, Stewart Shallcross and Brad Palmer.

Group three comprised Lewis Jackson, Stephen Swales, Mark Walker, Paul Waddington, Steve Macklin, Gary Knowles, Rob Busby, Chris Burton, Adam Oliver, Mark Dicconson, Garry Fulstow, Rob Brown, Mark Robinson, John Ketley, Andrew Carroll, Wayne Clark and Tim White.

Two minutes later group four started and they were Mel Blackford, Colin Baldwin, Martin Cockerill, Jason Young, Paul Hickman, Thomas Atkinson, Dean Fulstow, John Brearley and Matthew Enticknap.

Finally, the scratch group a further two minutes back were Matthew Fenton, Steven Guymer, Richard Moore,

David Brearley, Adam Duggleby, Chris Daddy, Nathan Wilson, Karl Downes, Marloe Rodman, Peter Fielding-Smith, David Shackleton and Steve Ward.

Lap times for group one went 20:42, then 19:58 and then caught by group two. Group two times were 18:53, 18:47, 19:08, and 18:14. Group three lapped in 18:20, 18:30, 18:32 and 17:10. Group four were caught by the scratch group after two laps which were 18:00 and 18:12. The scratch group went around in 17:10, 17:02, 17:25 and 16:55.

Everyone got together around the last lap, good handicapping maybe, but not for the judging. Thanks to Julie Rodman for her help with this, quite a mass finish.
