User Guide

Twitter Feed

At the top of the page we have a twitter feed which displays the most recent tweet. You can find us on twitter ‘HTRC’, and follow us to get updates to your phone. An instance in which they may be used is if we change the time or location of a time trial at very short notice, this is the best method of getting a quick message around.

Navigation Bar

The navigation bar is located at the top of every page, and when you move your mouse over certain texts, the menu deepens and more content becomes available. Once you have found the area you are looking for, click the link and you will arrive there.

Search Box

The search box functions by you entering a term into the field and then either pressing the search button or pressing the return key. The search page will then return results which relate to value you entered into the field.

Follow Us

There are several methods by which you can follow HTRC other than the website. Twitter allows you to follow our tweets, which we post to the website. RSS Feeds are a simple way of formatting the page so that all you see is text (good if internet is slow).

Featured Articles

The featured article scroller brings to your attention any featured articles that we feel are really important. At the top you will see little grey dots which when you click them, they will navigate you through the slides. Also you can use the arrows at the left and right hand-side of the image to scroll through also. A caption appears at the bottom of the image giving you a brief idea about the article, and if you need to read more, then just click the picture.

Recent Posts on Main Page

Recent posts appears below the featured article slider and this allows you to see recent club news from all the different disciplines of riding in the club.

Login Widget

To the right you will see the login/profile widget, which is where you login/register/forgot password etc.

Registering

Logged In

To register just follow the ‘register’ link in the login widget and fill in the details as you would normally. We ask if you are a HTRC member because we can give you exclusive content for only paying club members. However this is an optional field. Once your registered you will see this screen each time you login, which displays your member-related content.

To Log-out of your account, you can either click the link in the above image or at the very top of the page is a log-out button aswell. This is a good security measure to get used to as it limits people getting onto your account with their permission.

Logged In Profile Picture

To give your account a ‘Profile Picture/Avatar’ as shown in the picture on the right, you need to setup a gravatar account. Your profile picture will also be used in the forums as your avatar. We use Gravatar as it allows us to remotely manage the profile pictures which saves our website space being hogged by pictures.

Gravatar E-Mail

Manage Gravatar Profile Pictures

Firstly go to http://en.gravatar.com and at the top of the page follow the ‘Sign up’ link. They don’t ask for much information, but to make this work properly the next step is very important. The key is to USE THE SAME EMAIL YOU SIGNED UP TO WWW.HTRC.CO.UK WITH. This then allows our website and gravatar to talk and share pictures.

Once your Gravatar account is created, log back into your account and by default the ‘Manage Gravatars’ page will show up. Click to add an image, and then follow the cropping steps through. Once your picture is uploaded, Gravatar then get you to rate your photo, however for the HTRC website it doesn’t matter what you rate the photo, just as long as you rate it something.

Now just wait upto 5 minutes and check back on your logged in widget and you should now have a shiny new display picture.
