Burton Fleming saw Peter Cox time his sprint to perfection in round 5 of the Road Race League.

It didn’t rain during the event, and only part of the circuit was flooded from earlier downpours. Nevertheless, this standing water enabled the riders to get sufficiently wet to feel at home on their bikes.

Group 1 almost stayed clear for the whole race and were only caught 400m from the line by a combined group 2 & 3. Groups 4 and 5 had come together on the second lap but were still 30 seconds back at the finish.

With 8 of the top 10 finishers collecting points for the first time this year, there is no change at the top. Mark Robinson leads the series on 21 points, Martin Cockerill is 2nd on 20 points with Matt Fenton 3rd on 17 points.
