John Martin takes honours in Bridlington CC ‘10’ on V718
Long-serving member of Hull Thursday RC, John Martin, took the cash prize in the Over-80-year-old category, clocking 28:59 and beating his arch rival, Arthur Thackray of Team Swift by 44 seconds.

Huge respect has to be given to John, who after the event loaded his ruck-sack and pedalled back home, bucking the modern trend to go to the race by car.
Second claim HTRC member Chris Goode recorded a time of 19:28 taking first position in the tandem event, riding on the rear of a tandem with East Hull born powerhouse Andy Fisher piloting the machine.
Now living on the east coast, Chris was riding for Yorkshire Coast Clarion, a club to which he serves as the Premier as well as being a second claim member of Hull Thursday.
The Scottish-based veteran, Jim Trevor, returned home and was Hull Thursday’s highest placed rider clocking 20:45 in a stiffening westerly breeze.
This achieved 29th position in the full field, with favourite Michael Hutchinson winning the event with a time that he was disappointed with of 18:29.
Jim was the best-placed rider of the Hull clubs represented, with 2nd Cat road man Peter Fielding-Smith of Wilson Wheels RT being the nearest with a 21:41.
City Road Club and Hull and East Riding Road Club were also represented.
