Lockington, TT Series #4 – Guymer takes maximum points again

The fourth event in the Hull Thursday club time trial service was held on Tuesday night at Lockington.

Once again the weather wasn’t too bad nice and it was nice and sunny although slightly chilly to start with with and very quickly got much colder as the night wore on.  Although it seemed fairly breezy the wind only seem to be in your face in the last mile with the rest of the course a mixture of side and back wind which resulted in reasonably fast times all round considering its still early in the season

Organisers Andy Cawley and John Savage had done an excellent job of erecting signs around the course and sweeping the corners. Andy had also organised for Les and Martin to assist with marshalling and pushing off duties which was really helpful as we did not have enough marshals from the riders. They had also provided some cones for the start which was useful on this course as the road can be busy at times. Finally, John’s daughter Jane was also present to help out with signing on and collect entry fees etc. Time-keeping was taken care of by Barry and Gil to their usual excellent standards. Thanks guys and girls much appreciated – the improved standard of organisation due to additional help this year is very noticeable.

22 riders faced the time-keeper which was fairly good although 2 riders failed to start due to confusion over the meeting point which has hopefully now been clarified.

The event was won by Stephen Guymer in a time of 23:23, with second place taken by private entry Dave Betts who is showing much improved form following some serious winter training in a time of 23:42.  Mark Walker took third place in 24:28 closely followed by Neil Cleminshaw and Will Thomas in 24:31 and 24:44 respectively.

The next batch of riders all finished on 25 minutes and included Richard Dean, Steve Macklin, Paul Noble, myself and Andy Carroll.  Further down the field the were close battles between various groups of riders all keen to beat the riders of similar abilities to themselves.

TT Series 2014 Event 4 Wright Cup ’10’ Lockington Circuit – Results

I will produce a points table of overall results and circulate before the next event which is in two week’s time at Little Weighton.  Hopefully we can use the school car park for parking but I will check and confirm before the event.
