Richard Moore, Squadra RT ignored the wet conditions to register a fine win at Walkington in the East Yorkshire Road Race League

Thank you to all who turned out and raced or helped out on Thursday night. The forecast was for rain (well done the weather people) and it certainly did rain – before, during and after the race. 38 riders signed on but about 6 changed their minds before the start.

The race started with 3 start groups. The scratch group caught group 2 within the first 2 laps, then caught the first group on the start of lap 3, at which point a lone rider Richard Moore took off the front up the long drag from Walkington to High Hunsley, with the assistance of a back wind.

The bunch held back from making an effort in bringing back the lone rider until near the top at High Hunsley. Richard Moore was caught, but an attack on the start of lap 4 saw 4 riders go clear. Moore must have felt strong and he attacked again and soloed to the win 20 seconds clear of the trio of breakaway riders.

Dan Posnett led the remains of the bunch across the line 45 seconds behind the winner.

After 3 events the league is still close at the top, with a different winner at each of the events so far, so placings are starting to look very important.
