Training Session #4 at Brantingham – with VIDEO!

A much better day today with sunshine throughout but cold. Fifty-two riders out split into 6 groups, with Hull Thursday Racing Team setting off as one group, third on the road.

Ten laps for this, the last time this year on the Brantingham circuit. Next week we’re out east on a circuit around Sproatley.

We don’t get many spills but we had one on the slight climb up to the Brantingham village junction. Apparently a fast group overtaking a slower one came to grief as riders overtaking riders caused a collision and a couple went down. No serious injuries, but bikes needed a bit of attention, brand new bikes, so we hope they’re OK now.

Here’s the lap times:

Groups were a little bigger than I’d like and most got cut down to a determined few. Nevertheless, apart from the crash, the majority had a good work-out.

Hopefully we’ll see similar numbers at Sproatley. The circuit is safer, it undulates a little more but never seems as hard as the climb on the Brantingham one.

Thanks once again to Garry Fulstow and Dave Watson for marshalling the Ellerker cross roads, to Terry Jackson and Ray Robson at the Stockbridge junction and Pet Kitching at the Brantingham turn.

Rider Mike McAllister has produced a cool video of one of his group’s laps:

I’ve finally put together this video http://youtu.be/ViwkRlZ0lyo HTRC Jim’s Winter Training Session #4 Brantingham.

I used the Garmin Edit software to sync a GPS log with the video (very easy, just about idiot proof) so you can see speed, gradient and position on the lap.
