Time Trial Series #3 – Result
Will Thomas was a convincing winner of the first evening event of the series, the Weedley prologue held on Wednesday 8th April 2015.
Riders faced cool and windy conditions for the event, and despite warm temperatures during the day, by the time the first rider set off at 7 o’clock the temperature had dropped significantly and it was rather chilly. Furthermore the wind was blowing from the south-east making the first leg down to Raywell corner head-wind and very hard and the second leg to the finish not much easier. Time were generally much slower than previous events with most riders about 60 to 70 seconds down on their best times when conditions were more favourable.
A good turn out of 24 riders faced the timekeeper with all those starting finishing.
The winner by a significant margin (considering the short distance) was Will Thomas in a time of 9:53 with second place going to Neil Cleminshaw on 10:05.
6 seconds behind Neil in third place was Graham Morgan (on a standard road bike – to win this category convincingly).
Richard Dean was 4th on 10:23, closely followed by JP on 10:28, Andy Carroll on 10:30 and Mark McKeown on 10:42.
Paul Kilvington was next on 10:50, followed by Paul Noble on 10:57 and James Bray on 11:04.
Finley Pickering made his debut in time trialling and set a really good time of 11:30 in an event that really doesn’t suit his abilities and I’m sure he will be far more competitive on the hillier courses.
The next event is next week (Tuesday April 14th) on the Lockington circuit. Meet at the doctors surgery at the top of Woodhall Way, Molescroft.
