Club Dinner – 27 November 2015

We are now just 4 weeks or so away from the club dinner. It seems to have come around so quickly.

By now you all know that the new venue for the dinner is The Hallmark Hotel in North Ferriby and it is to be held on 27 November.

Hull’s top function band ‘The Ordinary Men’ will once again be playing for our entertainment – special thanks go out to them as they are again performing for a very small percentage of their normal rate. I know for some of you that once the band start playing it can become too loud to sit and have a chat. This is one of the reasons for the change of venue this year. The Hallmark have a side bar attached to the function room and they also have a bar upstairs if you wish to go somewhere a little quieter to sit and chat, without having to leave the building.

This years guest speaker is Chris Sidwells. If you have ever read a copy of Cycling Weekly or Cycle Sport you will more than likely have read one of Chris’ articles. As well as being a renowned cycle journalist he is also the nephew of one of the greatest cyclists this country has ever produced, Tom Simpson, the former World Road Race Champion who tragically died climbing the Ventoux during the 1967 Tour de France.

For those of you thinking about making a full night of it and staying at The Hallmark Hotel, they are kindly offering a special rate of £59 (Bed and Breakfast) for dinner attendees. If you would like to take this opportunity please quote ‘HTRC’ when booking.

Please note: the winners of the various sections in the club time trial series receive a free ticket to the event. In relation to this please can all those who won trophies at last year’s dinner ensure that they are returned to Richard Guymer AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Can you also show some consideration and polish the trophies before they are returned as every year Richard is tasked with polishing all the trophies prior to the dinner and would appreciate your help. If the trophies are not returned you will not receive them so please get them in as soon as you can. To arrange a suitable time to return your trophy/trophies you can contact Richard on (01482) 848222.

This year’s menu includes:

  • Starter – Sweet potato and butternut squash soup
  • Main – Slow roasted belly of pork with sage roasted baby new potatoes, seasonal vegetables, cracking and cider apple jus
  • Dessert – Sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce and vanilla custard

Please note: A vegan option is also available, please advise on booking if you require this.

Tables of 8, 10 and 12 people are available so please let me know if you require a table and I will endeavour to seat you with your favoured party.

As in previous years the dinner is ticketless so if you would like to come please respond to this email and send your money (£25) to Miss R Codd:

Cheques must be made payable to ‘Hull Thursday Road Club’ and can be sent to:
