Mike Pickering reclaimed his Freewheel champion stripes in a controversial win, on the Saturday before last, on the Millington Dale freewheel course.

A rider, who won’t be named, was spotted creating movement of his cranks with the stretch of the zip ties, giving some mechanical forward movement (against the strict rules)! The rider was disqualified and Mike took the top spot, with newcomer Brett in second place.

The wind was against the riders so most came to a standstill on the first small incline.

The conditions of the day were ‘filthy’ with drizzle in the air and dirty roads. After some sustenance and a slight drying out at Millington café we headed home.

Some chose to miss the café stop and just keep moving, hoping to avoid more punctures or just to get home for a bath.
