March ‘Scene’ now available
Attached is the first monthly ‘Scene’ which I think is a great read thanks to the 16 people who have contributed. It’s quite large, 28 pages, so I suggest you get yourself a nice cuppa and settle down for a good read, or take it in sections.
Each section is clearly marked in the header area:
Club Scene, page 2
Various events are needing help plus the AGM minutes which I thoroughly enjoyed reading – find out about what the volunteer committee members are doing to make the club run.
Social Scene, page 10
Adverts for two charity events and two great write ups – Richard Dean’s Eroica bike (I had to ask what Eroica was) and Rob Almond’s Paris – Nice Prologue, fab write up and photos of the stars.
Racing Scene, page 19
East Yorkshire Road Race League, two debut races from Ben Clark and Connor Clark (not related) and Mark Walker’s Seacroft race – a very successful start to the race season.
TT Scene, page 22
A report on the Hardriders’ by Mike Kilgour and all about Time Trials from Jim Trevor. If you thought, like me, a time trial was just a time trial, there is so much more.
Muddy Scene, page 25
A little arm twisting got Olley to explain Cyclocross (no it’s not just an off-road going round in cycles) and a wee advert for the Cyclopaths from Dave Milson.
Odds&Sods Scene, page 27
This month’s has the first ‘Body Bits & Bikes’ which is a series that could go on and on as (unfortunately) I am sure quite few of you have XRays and stories to tell. We also have a Bike Tip from Cally and a Pit Stop from Lee Coulson.
Let me know what you think of it and please send your contributions for April to Scene@HTRC.co.uk (or this address). Entries for any of the sections listed above and if you have any great scenery shots to start the magazine in a beautiful way that would be very welcome.
Deadline for next Scene 23rd April
Thank you to all the March contributors: Neil Dean, Neil Prendergast, Andy Abbott, Andy Cawley, Richard Dean, Lee Coulson, Rob Almond, Ben Clark, Connor Clark, Mark Walker, Mike Kilgour, Jim Trevor, Mark Ollerenshaw, Dave Millson & Mike McAllister and me.
Cheers,
Amanda / Mandy
P.S. This month has taken me hours and hours to produce but now I have a template it should be much quicker.
If any of you would prefer a hard copy please email the Scene editor.
