The HTRC 2022 TT series is launched

Welcome

If you are serious about enjoying cycling, the Hull Thursday Road Club Time Trial series, sponsored by Cliff Pratt Cycles, kicks off sooner than you think.
It’s fun, none elitist and good value racing,  and we have timed it not to clash with 10 league this year so you can get more events in your diary.
The series is one of the backbones of cycling in East Yorkshire and this year’s series is kindly sponsored by Cliff Pratt Cycles which is great for you as it means there are prizes at stake. What is not to love!
For those who have never given it a go, all the courses are between seven and 25 miles. You can ride standard road bike or the latest aero TT bike.
There are ten events this year and if you want to qualify for the overall series categories then you have to marshal at least one event and no quibbling!
Your best eight events count for the prizes which are dependant on the number of entries. There will be TT and Road Bike categories, but age related sections and prizes will be confirmed once the number of entries are confirmed.
The entry fee for the whole ten event series will be £60,  and the committee is considering giving non club members first or second claim membership as part of this deal. Entries for individual events will be £7.00.
It is time to get these dates in your diary and start planning your entry. Download the entry forms from the website or club secretary, and post it to Rich Guymer (details below).
It is the easiest way to get into racing in these post pandemic times.
Hull Thursday Road Club has a rich time trial heritage going back to 1908 but don’t let any formality put you off, the club is always welcoming,  we do this for fun and don’t bite!
The range of experience of riders who enter the series is vast and in the last three years we have had Olympic champions like Adam Duggleby, road racers looking for a training run, riders aged 80 plus, and current young pro and GB rider, junior Olympic and Worlds veteran Finley Pickering cut his teeth on the very circuits you will ride on.
The events run every other Thursday evening from spring to August, attracting fields of riders from 10 to 30. Courses are all on East Riding roads and have been risk assessed. All entrants this year have to have front and rear lights and must wear a helmet.
Links to the courses can be found under the ‘Sections’ and Time Trial’ tabs.,  though some have changed this year to freshen them up and will be updated in time.
For those interested in joining, don’t be frightened to ring and ask club member for times, dates, cost, or any questions about where to park for the starts. We know when you are starting out it is not always easy to find us and it is not a test.  It is good to talk.
Parking and start points are not always the same and please don’t turn up at the start time, try and arrive at least half an hour earlier to sign on the start sheet, familiarise yourself and get warmed up.
