Howden 10m TT, event 4 of Thursday’s Cliff Pratt sponsored time trial league of 2022

The 26th May saw a shaky turn out with some pre-entries dropping out and other names filling spaces on a dry warm evening with a strong westerly blowing.  The V714 already having had a CRC event run two days prior may have diluted peoples ardour though the prospect of battling a nigh on 20mph westerly isn’t to everyone’s taste.

No matter for all who turned out as though the westerly was hard work on the outward leg,  it was also hard on the return if you were pedalling fast enough!

To be fair on mother nature there was no sleet, rain or biting cold to contend with and conditions were good for racing.  Some found consistent results with last years event and despite some confusion over finishing times,  the importance of shouting your number out at the finish was given a good reminder to contenders eager to better their times and peers.

Congratulations to ex-Thursday rider Andy Millar (Chapeau! Vive le Velo) for a storming win over his also ex-Thursday, team mate Neil Cleminshaw (Chapeau! Vive le Velo). Hot on Neil’s wheels was Mark Mckeown (HTRC) hoping to keep his league chances alive,  who enjoyed a comfortable gap over the first road bike competitor, Steve Guymer (Squadra).

As ever special thanks to Richard Guymer for organising the league alongside right hand man Dave Millson, club secretary, and stalwart time keepers Geoff and Angie Rawson.  Good job folks.

Much gratitude to you all and the other helpers on the night and look forward to the next bash on the 9th June, the Lund 10m TT,  a tastier sporting course from Lund to Beverley and back,  seen here via this Strava link –
