Event 10 Little Weighton 12.5 m TT RESULT

The final event in the Cliff Pratt sponsored Hull Thursday TT league saw Steve Guymer (Squadra) taking the win not only in the road bike category,  but also the overall event.

Steve took advantage of having three generations of family cycling know how present by taking strategic advise from the fresh eyes of his son Remy.  Remy had clearly advised him to go all out catching his minute man Mark Mckeown (HTRC).  The advise proved sound as Steve not only caught Mark who took third place, but also denied Neil Cleminshaw (Chapeau! Vive le Velo) his third win of the series.

Hats off to Steve for a worthy win for this event,  a fine demonstration of his class as a rider.

Proving the shortcomings of time trial bike handling on technical courses, Mark was having to ease off to avoid getting in Steve’s way on the corners after Steve caught him as Steve was able to carry more speed through them.  Mark narrowly missed a course pb despite clawing time back on the other sections.

League table

Due to Richard and the Hull Thursday team’s focus on the up and coming Big J sportive in aid of Joel Wainman,  the final league table has not been completed.  It seems likely however that a one two three of this evening’s podium with Neil at the helm, would be a good prediction of the overall series points.

Series-ous thanks

Much appreciation to Richard Guymer for organising and running the series and Cliff Pratt Cycles for generously sponsoring.  Time keepers Geoff and Angie Rawson and John Savage have all done sterling work keeping us on track,   and a big thanks to club secretary Dave Millson for assisting in almost all the events.  Another big thank you to Hull Thursday member Dave Jacketts for his excellent photography of the events this season,  and with all the other helpers that have made the 2022 series a resounding success.

It’s a big proud thank you to you all from HTRC.

I’m sure I’m not alone in looking forward to the 2023 series. Safe riding and enjoy your cycling whether you’re racing, spectating, or just heading down the shops.  See you out on the roads and trails.
