HULL THURSDAY ROAD CLUB’S 2UP TEAM TIME TRIAL RESULTS FOR THE GEORGE ELY MEMORIAL TROPHY

Strong winds swept the V733/24 course on Saturday for the George Ely Memorial Trophy event starting and finishing in Beverley East Yorkshire.

George Ely trophy winners for the fastest Hull Thursday pair Lee Coulson and Nigel Whiteley were going well at the half way point as the course turned into the wind for the section from Driffield to Bainton, where the course then turns back on itself on undulating roads towards Beverley. Their winning time in the road bike section was 55:48 minutes.

Others already suffering by this point included Lantern Rouge prize winners Hull Thursday’s Ermin Huremovic who had been distanced by his partner Ian Pythian,  and overall event winners brothers John and David Brearley,  John providing a grand demonstration of how it doesn’t get any easier at the top,  you just go faster.

Special thanks to Richard Guymer for organising the event, Richard Foster for timekeeping,  and all the friends and club members who made the event possible.
